Luke's 3rd Birthday

We had Luke's birthday party this last Saturday. We had a great time with family and I think Luke was pleased with his presents. He got his own Nintendo DS along with some Diego and Wonder Pets games for it. He was very excited to have his own white DS. He had been driving us all crazy wanting to play Tyler and Jake's. He would wake up early before everyone else and be downstairs playing theirs. He also got a Georgia bat and ball, a Radio Flyer tricyle, and a basketball goal for his room. That night we went with some friends to the firework show in Villa Rica. It has become a tradition that the boys look forward to each year. Megan did great. She enjoyed watching the boys play before the fireworks started and then fell asleep and slept through the whole show. It was a great day. John and I were laughing the other day because we should be saying that we can't believe that Luke is already 3, but instead it was, "Is he only 3?" It seems like he has been here a lot longer. He is a strong-willed child, but is also a lot of fun. He really is sweet and we wouldn't trade him for anything in the world. We love you Luke!

Five Months Old

Megan is five months old today. She is rolling over now and holding her head up really well. She is getting to be so strong. As soon as you lay her down she immediately rolls over. She is eating cereal and various baby foods. So far she seems to like everything she has tried. She is sleeping now most nights 7-8 hours, waking up around 5, eating and then going back to sleep for a couple of more hours which has been great. At her well-check appointment last week she weighed 18lbs, 9 ozs. and was 26 1/2 inches long. She was over the 95th percentile for both weight and height which isn't surprising by looking her. She is a big girl, but so sweet and such a happy baby. We love her so much.

Vacation 2010

This year on vacation we stayed at Phoenix on the Bay in Orange Beach, Alabama. We did not stay on the beach like we normally do because of the big oil spill in the ocean that had caused oil to start creeping into the gulf. The place we stayed was really nice and had a waterslide, a lazy river and a great kiddie pool. Both sides of our family were there so it was nice to see the whole family. All of the kids had fun playing together. Megan did great on her first long trip. She spent most of her time napping by the pool. She liked the water, but seemed to prefer just sitting and watching everyone when she wasn't asleep. We missed the ocean, but this was a nice alternative and made for a great vacation.

Baseball Party

We had our end of the season baseball party last night for Tyler's team. It was a pool party at one of the player's neighborhood pool. It rained some, so the boys didn't get to swim much, but they all enjoyed hamburgers and hotdogs, cake, and receiving their trophies. John really enjoyed his team this year and had a lot of great kids and parents. It was a fun night and a great end to a great season.

Sand Gnats and Grasshoppers

We have had a busy spring with Tyler and Jake both playing baseball this year. John coached Tyler again this year and their team was the Sand Gnats. They had a great season and ended up 10-1. Tyler was #6 and played second base. He did really well this year and even made the All-Star team which will be starting up this week.
Jake played tee-ball and his team was the Grasshoppers. He was #7 and played shortstop. His team finished second in the tee-ball tournament and each player received a trophy for being the runner-up. It was a fun season. Jake said he's not sure he wants to play again next year. He is really looking forward to playing basketball this fall. I don't think he has quite the love for baseball that Tyler does. Basketball may be his thing. Who knows? I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Jake's Birthday and End of School Year

Jake turned six on the 14th. We kept it simple and just had a small party at our house. Jake had a tee ball game that night so May-May and Paw-Paw came down for the game and we ate dinner at Zaxby's before the game and had cake and ice cream afterwards. Jake was pleased to get his own Nintendo DS and several more toy sea animals and sharks. Jake also had his last day of Kindergarten Thursday. He really learned alot this year. He is reading well into a second grade level and he loves to write books. He received the award in his class for "Best Creative Writer." His teacher calls him her little "author." He was sad to be out of school because he said he would miss doing all of his school work. Here are a few highlights from his birthday and last day of school.
